Verity BE vs Verity JE: Which Mod Should You Download?

The most downloaded Verity mod by a wide margin, and the recreation whose four-phase arc most closely mirrors the series. Verity spawns from an animated chest, responds to Hey Verity in chat, and escalates from helpful to hostile as your world ages. Verity BE (Undertaletalelover): the original recreation

The first Verity mod to become downloadable, published June 14, 2026 — days before any alternative. It remains a solid, lighter-weight take on the concept, though its dialogue pool is smaller and the horror escalation is less elaborate than PnTMC's version. If you just want to meet Verity quickly on a phone, it does the job.

Verity JE (VarmiteYT): official, and actually intelligent

The only licensed adaptation — its CurseForge page notes explicit permission and a contractual agreement with ThatMob — and the only one where Verity genuinely talks back, powered by Groq's free API or a local OLLAMA model. That live conversation is the closest any mod gets to the videos' premise of an all-knowing companion. The trade-offs: it is in early beta, needs a Java mod loader, and the AI setup takes a few extra minutes — the Java install guide walks through all of it.

Switching versions, worlds, and what carries over

A practical note before you commit. Minecraft Bedrock and Java are separate games with separate world formats, so there is no moving a world between Verity BE and Verity JE — pick the side where your friends and your existing worlds already live. Within Bedrock, the two add-ons aren't interchangeable either: each applies its own behavior pack, and running both at once is asking for conflicts. Install one Verity mod per world, and remove it fully (both packs) before trying the other.

Removal itself is painless — deactivate the packs in world settings, or delete the test world entirely. And the one thing every version shares is the premise: the four phases and the day-six arc. Trying a second Verity mod later doesn't spoil much you haven't already seen; it just stages the same story with different tricks.
