Who Is ThatMob, the Creator Behind Verity?

ThatMob is the Canadian Minecraft YouTuber who created Verity — the yellow smiley "AI helper" at the centre of the biggest Minecraft horror story of 2026. He wrote and filmed the series; he did not build the Verity mod people download. That distinction is the single most misunderstood fact about him, and it explains almost every argument you will see in the comments.

He is a Minecraft YouTuber from Canada who has been uploading since 2018, originally under the name NotGreenja, and who now runs the ThatMob channel with roughly 2.2 million subscribers (as of July 2026). For most of that run he was a mid-sized Minecraft creator. Then on May 30, 2026 he uploaded a horror short about a mod called Verity, and the channel's trajectory changed completely.
What made the Verity series land was not the jumpscare — Minecraft horror has no shortage of those — but the premise. Instead of a monster in a cave, Verity is a chirpy assistant that installs itself into your world and wants to help. The horror arrives through the character being too attentive, and it escalates across days of in-game time rather than in a single chase. The three episodes span just under six weeks — May 30 to July 8, 2026 — which is a big part of why the Verity story stayed at the top of Minecraft feeds for two months straight. Did ThatMob ever have a real Verity mod?
No — and he said so first. In the video descriptions, ThatMob disclosed that the series was a scripted horror film assembled inside Minecraft with editing and sound design, with Verity voiced by an actor credited as JustWhispy. As requests piled up, he asked viewers directly to stop asking for the Verity mod, "since there isn't one to share."
That disclosure did not slow anything down. Through early June, searches for a Verity mod download hit a wall: the file simply did not exist. The gap between a viral fictional mod and an actual playable one lasted about two weeks — and when community modders finally filled it, the resulting downloads climbed past 12.2 million (as of July 26, 2026). Which Verity mods does ThatMob actually endorse?
One. Verity JE, the Java Edition adaptation by VarmiteYT, was published with
ThatMob's explicit permission and a contractual agreement — making Verity a licensed
property rather than an open free-for-all. ThatMob also maintains a public repository,
ThatMobbb/VerityCraft, whose stated purpose is "to replicate the video" — a
neat piece of evidence that the original had nothing to replicate from.
The two Bedrock versions — Verity — Bedrock Edition by PnTMC and Verity BE by Undertaletalelover — are community recreations, not officially licensed ones. ThatMob publishes his Verity work under a channel name and has not made his legal identity part of it, so this page covers what he has actually put out — the episodes, the disclosures, the licensing — and stops there.
